The short version
Find My Personal Trainer is a directory only. Trainers are independent and are not employed, supervised or endorsed by us. Check a trainer's qualifications and insurance yourself before booking. Any contract for training is between you and the trainer. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.
This summary is for convenience — the full text below is the binding version.
1. Who we are and what FMPT is
Find My Personal Trainer ("FMPT", "we", "us") is an online directory and introduction platform. We help people in the UK find and contact independent personal trainers.
FMPT is not a personal training provider. We are not the employer, agent or partner of any trainer, and we do not supervise, train or employ trainers. Any agreement for training sessions or programmes is made directly between you and the trainer. We are not a party to that agreement.
2. Eligibility
You must be 18 or over to create an account or contact a trainer through this site. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must make enquiries and any booking on your behalf, and must be involved in any training arrangement.
3. What you acknowledge when you use FMPT
By using this site to find or contact a trainer, you acknowledge that:
- FMPT is a directory, not a provider of training services.
- Trainer profiles, qualifications, insurance, experience, reviews and claims are provided by the trainers themselves. FMPT does not guarantee, endorse or independently verify them, except where a profile shows a clearly labelled "Verified" badge — and then only to the extent described in the badge explanation (for example, "we checked a document the trainer uploaded on a stated date").
- You are responsible for doing your own checks — qualifications, insurance, references and suitability — before booking.
- Exercise carries inherent risk. You confirm you are in suitable health, or have taken medical advice, and that you will tell the trainer about injuries, conditions, medication and pregnancy.
- Results are not guaranteed. Outcomes depend on you and the trainer.
4. Our liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, FMPT is not responsible for the acts, omissions, advice, services, conduct or false or misleading claims of trainers, nor for any injury, loss or dissatisfaction arising from sessions or programmes you arrange with a trainer.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for (a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence, (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, (c) any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law, including under the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015, or (d) your statutory rights as a consumer.
Where we are liable for our own services (running this website), our liability to business users is capped at £500, and we do not exclude or cap anything the law does not allow us to. For business users only, and only where lawful, we exclude indirect and consequential loss.
Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.
5. What badges mean
Some profiles show badges. A badge is only displayed after our team has reviewed a document the trainer uploaded. Badges mean exactly what their label says and nothing more:
- Verified — we reviewed a document the trainer uploaded, on the date shown. It is not a guarantee of quality, character or outcomes.
- Insured — we saw evidence of insurance valid to the date shown. Cover can lapse; check yourself before booking.
- Qualified Level 3+ — we reviewed qualification evidence. It does not mean we assessed the trainer's competence.
If a profile has no badge, no check has been made. Always do your own checks before booking.
6. Contacting trainers
You can message a trainer or request a call back through their profile. There is no obligation to book. FMPT is not party to any payment or session contract: you pay the trainer directly, on whatever terms you agree with them.
7. Reviews
Reviews must be genuine and based on your own real experience. We do not allow incentivised, fake or self-written reviews. By posting a review you confirm it is your honest opinion. We may moderate or remove reviews in line with our Acceptable Use Policy.
8. Your conduct
You must not misuse this site: no spam, no scraping, no false enquiries, no unlawful, defamatory or harassing content, and no attempting to access parts of the site you are not authorised to use. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these rules.
9. Safety and reporting
Read our Safety notice and use the reporting options on every profile if something concerns you. In an emergency, call 999. FMPT is not an emergency service and cannot respond to urgent safety situations.
10. Intellectual property, links and availability
The site, its design and our content belong to us or our licensors. Trainer content belongs to the trainers. We link to third-party sites we do not control and are not responsible for them. The site is provided "as is": we do not guarantee uninterrupted service, but this does not exclude anything that cannot be excluded by law.
11. Data protection
We handle your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy. We only send marketing emails if you separately opt in.
12. Changes to these terms
If we make a material change to these terms, we will show a notice on the site and email account holders, and we will ask you to accept the new version before you continue using account features.
13. Governing law and complaints
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you keep the right to use your local courts. If you have a complaint, use our complaints process first — we aim to respond within 5 working days.
