Trainer Terms & Conditions

Version 1.0 · Last updated October 2026

The short version

You are an independent business, not an employee or partner of FMPT. You warrant that your qualifications, insurance and profile claims are genuine and current, and you are responsible for everything on your profile. Paid plans renew monthly and can be cancelled any time. We can suspend or remove profiles that cannot evidence their claims.

This summary is for convenience — the full text below is the binding version.

1. Definitions and relationship

FMPT is a directory and introduction platform. Trainers listed on FMPT are independent, self-employed or business operators. You are not an employee, agent, partner or worker of FMPT, and nothing in these terms creates exclusivity — you are free to market your services elsewhere.

2. Eligibility and your warranties

By accepting these terms, you confirm and warrant that, at the date of acceptance and for as long as your profile is live:

  • You hold a current, valid fitness qualification at Level 3 or above (or a recognised equivalent) in personal training or exercise instruction, awarded by a recognised awarding organisation, and every qualification listed on your profile is genuine, current and held in your own name.
  • You hold, and will maintain, valid public liability insurance (and professional indemnity where relevant) appropriate to the services you offer, and will provide proof on request.
  • You have the right to work and trade in the UK, and you hold first aid / CPR qualifications where you say you do.
  • You hold any other qualification or accreditation you claim (for example nutrition, rehabilitation, pre/post-natal, youth training, CIMSPA or REPs membership, DBS) and will only list specialties you are competent and qualified to deliver.
  • All information, photos, reviews, prices, offers and claims on your profile are true, accurate and not misleading, and comply with the ASA/CAP advertising rules and UK consumer protection law. Before/after claims, income or weight-loss guarantees and medical claims are prohibited.
  • You hold the rights to every photo and video you upload and, where other people appear, you have their consent.
  • You will carry out suitable client screening (such as a PAR-Q), operate safely, and comply with all laws, including data protection law for your clients' data.
  • You will tell us within 7 days if any qualification, insurance or right to trade lapses, is suspended or is withdrawn, and you will unpublish your profile until it is resolved.

3. Your responsibility and indemnity

You are solely responsible for the accuracy of your profile, for the training you deliver, for your clients' safety, and for any false, misleading or unqualified claims. You indemnify FMPT against losses, claims and costs (including reasonable legal costs) arising from your breach of these terms, your false or misleading claims, or your negligent or unlawful acts, to the extent permitted by law.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything the law does not allow to be excluded.

4. Verification and audit

We may ask for evidence at any time — certificates, an insurance schedule, or ID. We only display a "Verified" badge after reviewing documents. We may suspend or remove profiles whose claims cannot be evidenced. Providing false documents means immediate removal, and we may report it to the relevant awarding body or authorities.

5. Licence to your profile content

You grant FMPT a non-exclusive licence to display, edit for formatting, and promote your profile content, including text produced with our AI-assisted bio tool. You remain responsible for approving and checking the final text.

6. AI-assisted writing

Our AI profile helper produces drafts only. Drafts may contain errors. You must review them before publishing, and you must not publish any claim you cannot substantiate or any qualification you do not hold.

7. Reviews and ratings

You must not post fake, incentivised or self-written reviews, must not pressure clients into leaving only positive reviews ("review-gating"), and must not retaliate against reviewers. We moderate reviews and offer a right of reply — contact us if you believe a review breaks our Acceptable Use Policy.

8. Fees and payments

Current plans, prices and billing terms are shown at checkout. Paid plans renew automatically each month unless you cancel, include VAT where applicable, and can be cancelled at any time — your listing stays live until the end of the paid period. If you are a sole trader acting outside your trade, statutory cancellation rights may apply and will be shown at checkout.

9. How rankings work and how to complain

Search results are ordered by relevance to the search (location and goals), rating, profile completeness, and paid placement. Trainers on Featured or Premium plans appear ahead of Standard listings and are clearly labelled "Featured". If we suspend or remove your profile we will tell you why and give you a way to appeal. We will give at least 15 days' notice of material changes to these terms.

10. Conduct

No spam, no discrimination, and no misuse of client data. If you work with under-18s or vulnerable adults you must hold appropriate DBS checks and safeguarding training, and only say so if it is true.

11. Data protection

FMPT is the data controller for directory data (your profile, enquiries and reviews on this site). You are the data controller for your own clients' data once a relationship begins. See our Privacy Policy.

12. Suspension and termination

You can cancel at any time. We may suspend or terminate listings that breach these terms. Clauses on responsibility, indemnity and liability survive termination.

13. Our liability to trainers

We are not liable for lost enquiries, lost income, or site downtime beyond what the law allows. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything the law does not allow to be excluded.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
